There are a lot of existing tunes with the word 'relationship' in the title, so we wanted to give this piece a more unique and specific meaning. Alloy and arbor both mean to come together, and these materials also produce the sound of the vibraphone and marimba.
There are many improvements to the readability and playability of the score too. For example, the vibraphone part has note names for notes with more than a couple ledger lines instead of using octave-up/down lines. We think this better shows the overall shape of the melody.
Also, we're trying what we believe to be an innovative approach to grand staff spacing for marimba. Instead of the treble and bass staff having varying spacing to accommodate the height of various objects in the score, the space is now kept at a constant, predictable 2 spaces, and the stem direction and objects are repositioned to accommodate this.
The piece has been polished up, sanded down, and we think you'll enjoy hearing all the new sheen and texture. Enjoy your free copy of the new score if you've purchased the old version!
