It seems that the usefulness of polyrhythms has always been questioned. It’s as if musicians are waiting for a time period when polyrhythms will become acceptable to use other than only for special occasions. The goal for this show is to demonstrate that it is not only possible, but advantageous to have a nearly constant flow of polyrhythms from beginning to end.
The show has a safe structure of an Intro/Opener, Ballad, Drum Break, and Closer. The music begins by building slowly and indecisively, attempting several styles before establishing a full decision towards the end of the Opener. the pit helps uncover a unique, emotional melody. Drum Break is packed with varying styles and is very musically expressive.
As with the Intro, the Closer starts with some captivating layers. Repeated and modified several times during the Closer is that same curious melody found in the Ballad. The energy of the group is continually increased proven by the tempo markings, the number of “f’s” on the page, and the amount of ink per square inch.
